Illegal fishing on the Chelmer & Blackwater

The hot weather has brought with it an increase in the number of reports of illegal fishing on the Chelmer & Blackwater navigation.  If you see anyone taking fish from the river please refer to this Illegal Fishing 2017 pdf for more info and call the Police on 101 or the Environment Agency on 0800 807060 to report the incident.

Leave litter – leave the club

Please note that we have already issued one life ban this year for leaving litter.  Please help us keep this figure below two by taking all of your rubbish home with you.

Leave litter – leave the club

Please could you remind your members that they should not leave any litter behind when fishing along the Chelmer & Blackwater Navigation. It has been brought to my attention that some fishermen have not been taking their rubbish away on the stretch from Hoe Mill towards Little Baddow.  Your cooperation in this matter would be appreciated.

Kind regards,
Jenny Clemo
Parish Clerk
Langford & Ulting Parish Council

Any of our members who are caught leaving litter at any of our fisheries will be banned for life – you have been warned.

New restrictions at Whitehouse Farm

The owner of Whitehouse Farm has asked us to apply the following restrictions with immediate effect:

Junior members (aged under 16) can no longer fish the lake unless accompanied by an adult member aged 18+.

No fishing allowed after dusk (30 minutes after sunset).

An amount of litter has also been picked up at Whitehouse Farm, anybody caught littering will be banned for life.

These new restrictions were reviewed at the committee meeting on 1st March and it was agreed to keep them in place for the 2017-18 season.  As such they now appear in the new 2017 rulebook.  Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Half term reminder

Members are reminded that all members under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult member aged 18+ at all times whilst fishing and under 12′s cannot be dropped off at fisheries and picked up later in the day.

Essex Police Join Operation TRAVERSE

Essex Police has become the latest police force to sign up to Operation TRAVERSE – the multi-agency initiative launched in 2014 to tackle fish theft and illegal fishing in the East of England.  Any member who sees fish theft or illegal fishing taking place on our fisheries should report the details to our Head Bailiff and also to the Environment Agency’s Incident Hotline on 0800 80 70 60 or Essex Police on 101 quoting Operation TRAVERSE.
