Sun 25th Sep is going to be a busy day on the Chelmer & Blackwater canal

The 25th Sep is going to be a busy day for our Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation.  As well as the Maldon Marathon there is the Triathlon which will be starting at Hoe Mill.  This involves canoeing and cycling which will disrupt the river from Hoe Mill to Paper Mill including Beeleigh Lock.  The Driberg cup match at Boreham will also be affected.

One bream short of a ton

I have just received news that the CAA match at Beeleigh on Sunday was won by Chris Dyall with a top weight of 95lbs 4oz, 14 Bream the biggest weighing 10lbs.

Here are three of the Bream – we believe that 95lb 4oz is a river match record for the Chelmer & Blackwater canal, the next best weight that can be recalled is around 69lb.  If you know differently feel free to let our webmaster@maldonas.co.uk know.
