New Combination Locks

Members will notice combination locks appearing on some of our waters where there were previously key locks.  This is because the key locks now cost us a staggering £108 each and combination locks only cost £13.  The latest venue to fall foul of lock vandalism is Bog Grove so this now has a combination lock.  The number for all of these combination locks (except on the river section at Ashmans Farm Braxted – see below) is shown on page 15 of the current red rule book.  To activate once this number is entered please press down on the shackle and the lock will spring open.

Ashmans Farm Lake and River Sections To Go

Unfortunately the owner of Ashmans Farm Lake and the two sections of the River Blackwater at Braxted has decided to terminate our lease at dusk on 30 Sep 2010.  Members are asked not to visit these fisheries from 1 Oct onwards.  Until then fishing is available from dawn until dusk.

Ashmans River Access

Members trying to fish the Ashmans Farm River Blackwater stretches at Braxted will have noticed padlocks have been fitted to the entrances to the car parks.  These are not MAS padlocks so have a different number which is 5118.  A further update on Ashmans Farm (river and lake) will be posted soon.

New Hall re-opens and surprises Alan!

Alan Cleave, who particularly enjoys a trip out after a predator or two, has recently sent in this report:

Just thought you would like to know the results of my predator sessions at New Hall.  Very surprising, had three large perch to over 2lb 12oz and the eels in there go to 5lb 4oz.  That relly threw me as they take float fished half smelt.  Also it looks as if there might be some american bullhead catfish in there along with a couple of koi carp!

I also had my first trip to Ashmans Farm where I was  swimfeeding and couldn’t stop catching roach, rudd, roach/bream hybrids and roach/rudd hybrids.  I also hooked a huge carp but the hook pulled (size 14 as I wasn’t after carp).

Autumn is here

Members are reminded that now October is here Rook Hall and Ashmans Farm are now closed until 1st Feb.  Night permit / syndicate members may now use 3 rods on all venues and night fishing has commenced on Bog Grove (until 30 Apr).  This is also the last month that night fishing is allowed on Slough House Farm (no night fishing between 1 Nov and 31 Mar).

NEW fishery now open

We are delighted to announce that we have just secured agreement for a new fishery.

ashmansfarm1

It is an ex-syndicate water in Braxted consisting of a small lake and two stretches of the River Blackwater. The fishery is now open to members and will be known as Ashmans Farm.

For more information and directions please click this Ashmans flyer (if this file does not open please right click and save to your PC before viewing).

Members are asked to proceed with patience as the owner of this venue is still erecting suitable signage and the swims will all be sorted out over the next month or so.
