Minutes of the 2019 AGM

AGM 19 Minutes

Brick Kiln Pond to close to members on 30th Nov 2018

The owner of Brick Kiln Pond has notified us that he is selling the pond and the land around it.  The new owners wish to reserve the pond for their own employees and do not want anyone else to have access.  Members can fish Brick Kiln until the end of November but please do not fish there after this date.

Howells is not for sale

In an effort to dispel some of the rumours that have been flying around Howells is not for sale.  The new Heybridge bypass will eventually be built close to Howells, and the building work at the end of Broad Street Green will expand to create a new garden suburb, but Howells lies outside of this development.

On the subject of Howells there is one Howells night permit left for this season so if you have been a member for two years, and have a clean record with us, and fancy doing the winter on Howells you can upgrade your existing standard night permit to a Howells night permit for an additional £30.  Please contact the membership secretary via webmaster@maldonas.co.uk on a first come first serve basis.

Keepnet ban lifted on all venues

Keepnets can now be used at all of our fisheries.

Unhooking mats

As unhooking mats can get very hot at this time of the year please ensure that they are wetted down before use or covered with a freshly dipped weigh sling.  It is also worth having a container of cool lake water to hand just in case it takes longer than you expect to remove the hook.  Please leave fish in the safety of your landing net in the water while your wet unhooking mat / sling is positioned and your scales and camera are readied as required.

Gasping fish hotline

If you see fish in distress and/or gasping on the surface at any of our fisheries please contact Ken Saffill on 07585 802284 or by email on seafisherken@gmail.com

If Ken is not available you can also contact Ben at the Environment Agency on 03708 506506.

Ken will be able to test the dissolved oxygen levels to determine if this is the cause of the situation and has access to aeration pumps to deploy them at the venue.
