Please be on your guard

Please be on your guard and do not leave any tackle unattended or out of sight as the Secretary had his landing net stolen from the Heron Hall car park on 21st July.  Understandably he hopes that it stinks out the thief’s car as much as it did his own.

Jamie Smart has smashed the society’s grass carp record with a splendid fish from Heron Hall:

We didn’t even know that there were any grass carp in Heron Hall!

The previous society grass carp record was a fish of around 6lb from Priory Farm in Bicknacre (no longer a society fishery).

This rubbish was collected last Thursday from Rook Hall, Heron Hall and Beckingham Hall, most of it came from Beckingham. Rule 5.7 is being actively enforced by our bailiffs and anyone found leaving litter will be banned, no exceptions.

Lady’s purse found

The lady’s purse found in the layby outside Heron Hall has been handed in to Chelmsford police station.

Storm damage

Members are asked to proceed with caution, especially at Totham Pit and Bog Grove, as thanks to the recent high winds a lot of trees came down and there is a risk of loose branches and blocked paths.  Our fishery manager Paul Kemp commenced the big task of clearing up at Totham Pit on Sunday and bailiff Dave Brock did an excellent job of orgainsing the work to clear Bog Grove.  Other reports are that Heron Hall, Little London, Howells and Slough House Farm have all survived intact although a number of willow trees have fallen into the canal between Tesco and Maldon golf course.  There are also reports of a snapped willow in the water at Little Park Top Lake.

Ben bags up at Heron Hall

Our Treasurer took his son Ben fishing at Heron Hall on Monday and they enjoyed a great days sport catching upwards of 25lb of small carp, tench, roach and ide.

Simon’s own account can be found on our (fairly) new Facebook page.
