Beckingham Hall update

Beckingham Hall remains closed until further notice but hopefully some better news will appear here soon.  Sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Chelmer & Blackwater Close Season

Members of Maldon AS, Chelmsford AA, Kelvedon DAA, Colchester APS and day ticket anglers are reminded that the last day of fishing on the Chelmer & Blackwater river/canal was Tuesday 14th March.  The Environment Agency will be enforcing the traditional 3 month close season between the 15th March and 15th June 2017 on the entire river/canal network.

Fortunately 16 of our stillwaters remain open between the 15th March and 15th June so MAS members (who have rejoined for the 2017-18 season) will not have to hang up their rods for 3 months.

Work party at Totham Pit on Sunday 19th March

Totham Pit will be closed from 8am on Sunday 19th March (not Mothers Day) for a working party.  All members willing to help out should gather by the container at 8am.  Paul is hoping to co-ordinate some extensive trimming up and removal of underwater snags where fish are often lost.  This work is needed prior to an application of Siltex being applied to the lake to improve the water quality before the next batch of carp are stocked.  All help will be gratefully received and members who attend the working party and leave their name with Paul will accrue a 10% discount towards their 2018-19 daytime membership fee.

Autumn reminder

Members are reminded that Rook Hall and Whitehouse Farm reservoir are now closed for the 4 month duck shooting season and will re-open on Wednesday 1st Feb 2017.  There are also duck shoots scheduled for Slough House West so please look out for signs at the entrance to the fishery, especially on Fridays.

Night fishing at Bog Grove has now started and runs through until the 30th April 2017.

3 rods are now allowed on all venues for all 120 standard night permit and 50 Howells night permit holders as well as for members who have purchased the £30 winter 3 rod upgrade.  Regardless of which night permit you have you can use 3 rods on all venues including Howells.

The sun sets on another summer’s fishing at Rook Hall.

Part of canal closed on Sun 18th Sep

We have taken a match booking for this Sunday 18th September on the River Chelmer.  The stretches at Boreham Black Bridge, Papermills and Browns Wharf will be closed to non-competitors.  Thanks - Russell.
