Bog Grove tree removal on Friday 9th October

Bog Grove was closed for safety reasons on Friday 9th October so that a large tree could be removed by experts prior to the autumn winds arriving and putting anglers at risk.  We are pleased to report that the operation went smoothly.

Now you see it, now you don’t.

Slough House West evening shoot on Tue 15th Sep at 5pm

With good numbers of duck using the pond and geese regularly flighting in the early evening conditions are favourable for an evening flight which I hope to hold on Tuesday 15th September. I therefore need to request that anglers be off the pond by 5pm. I will put up an appropriate notice over the weekend. I will not be holding any more evening shoots until some time in October. Thanks - Alan.

Duck shooting at Slough House West

Members are warned that there will be organised shoots at Slough House West between 1st Sep and 31st Jan.  The owner of the lake does not want us to close the fishery to members during these five months so the lake remains open throughout but members are asked not to proceed onto the venue if shooting is in progress.  Most of the shoots will take place on a Friday morning so it is wise to avoid Slough House West on a Friday until noon.  We apologise for any inconvenience caused and normality will resume on 1st Feb 2016.

Slough House West – please avoid on Friday mornings until February.

Slough House Farm might have to close

The committee have decided that if the new permanent pegs at Slough House Farm (numbered white wooden posts) continue to be pulled out, snapped off, tampered with and generally vandalised then the lake will have to be closed for fishing until further notice.  This might also lead to a permanent ban on night fishing being imposed.  Any member caught vandalising a peg will be subject to disciplinary action which could result in the withdrawal of night permit or a suspension / ban, but if not caught in the act then closing the lake completely is the only other option.  There are 25 numbered pegs on Slough House Farm and the numbers are not just to benefit match anglers but also assist our bailiffs as well.  A notice to this effect has been put on the gate at Slough House Farm and the situation is being actively monitored by our bailiffs.

Crucians stocked into New Hall

Our anonymous benefactor is wondering if anyone has caught any of the crucian that we stocked into New Hall yet?  If you have please drop the webmaster a line or to at webmaster@maldonas.co.uk:

“Today Monday 4 May I went to New Hall for a spot of fishing, I was hoping to catch some Crucian Carp! I started in one of my favourite swims and after two hours I had not had a bite!! I moved to a swim next to the large Lilly Pad and I struggled to get bites but managed about half a pound of very small Roach and Rudd but no Crucian’s. I have never had such a bad day at New Hall in the past, always having a good bag of nice size Roach, Rudd and small Bream.  I noticed that someone had been fishing at some time in the first swim by the Lilly pad it would be nice to know what sort of session they had. So I was wondering if by the web people could post their reports of New Hall.” – Anon.

With a big thank you to the anonymous member who donated £500 to us to buy crucian carp for New Hall reservior I am now pleased to confirm that 85 crucian have been introduced to New Hall.  Probably around 30lbs in all – good size fish, the largest about 8oz.

New Hall is closed to fishing for the month of April so these fish will have a month to settle in before fishing resumes on Friday 1st May.
