Nice 23lb 3oz out of Whitehouse Farm

Had a nice 23lb 3oz out of Whitehouse Farm yesterday (Wednesday 24th) wasn’t really prepared for it, not being a carp man, on 6lb line, 10 foot quiver with a hybrid feeder, 2mm pellets with coconut sticky mix flavour and a size 14 hook and sweet corn.

Took me a while to get in but was chuffed with it. Lovely condition.

Thanks to the chap who took the picture. Sorry I didn’t ask his name.   Cheers - Ian.

Keifer Brewer with a cracking 23lb 1oz heavily scaled Mirror landed from Howells this month.

A good day at Slough House Farm for Kelvin

From Slough House Farm on Friday.

5 Tench to 4lb 13oz and about 8lb of quality Roach.

Peg 16, groundbait feeder with maggots towards the island at 40m for the Tench and a few Roach but most of the Roach on the pole and maggot – Kelvin.

Today at Slough House

Slough House Farm today, struggled for many bites fishing very light for silvers but the bites I had on maggot and 1lb hooklength were carp that smashed me up, so I stepped it up to 3lb hook length to give myself at least a chance if  I hooked another and landed this after a 20 minute battle at 16lb 14oz.

Thanks to Mark in the next swim for allowing me to use his weigh sling and cradle.

I also landed my first 3lb+ Ide from Slough House (on 1lb bottom) at 3lb 1oz.

Only 5 other fish (all Perch) to show for a pretty hard day, but I went home happy, other than having to pack up early cos the carp smashed my landing net pole.

Short session in between doing the school run

I was after a bream or two today on a short session in between school runs but ended up with this 14lb carp in great condition from Little Park, Langford, on some light gear.   Had to pack up at 2.30 if I was going to make it in time to pick the kids up from school and hooked it at exactly 2.30 so I was late.  This is the first time I’ve sent a picture in to the club. Cheers - Ian

Elusive Little London Tench

It’s been a mission of mine for some time to have caught at least one tench out of every Maldon water that holds one. All of the other lakes came fairly easy but the Little London Tench has eluded me for some years. Until this week when fishing at long range on a sliding waggler I got one at 4lb 1oz along with a decent Bream at 6lb 2oz (see gallery) and some nice roach.

Mission accomplished!

I’d be interested to know if anyone has more than one Tench out of Little London in a sitting as they are very elusive, this one was totally unmarked and looked like it had never been caught before.
