Ben bags up at Heron Hall

Our Treasurer took his son Ben fishing at Heron Hall on Monday and they enjoyed a great days sport catching upwards of 25lb of small carp, tench, roach and ide.

Simon’s own account can be found on our (fairly) new Facebook page.

Slough House Farm update

We have received a handful of reports of dead fish at Slough House Farm.  The secretary has contacted the Environment Agency who have advised us that on the basis that we have only found dead carp  (largest an upper double) and no other species of fish, injuries have been observed on caught fish and the fact that they have been spawning for at least 2 weeks, the EA is confident that we have suffered spawning casualties.  Their advice is to monitor the water closely and if we get more deaths, to let them know and they will do a water quality test.  The presence of cormorants and mink won’t be helping the situation either.

Jack’s first carp

Jack Jeffs had his first try at carp fishing at Bog Grove on the 2nd June and landed himself this beautiful 7lb common along side another 2.5lb common and a 2lb mirror.

The smile says it all.

Well done Danny

Danny Kennedy wrote:  “On my first visit to Howells Farm with with my dad and friends I landed two fish. My first came at midday, which was a mint 16lb 7oz common. After a long and nervy fight of around 15 minutes I finally landed my new pb of 26lb. As I finally netted it, I got told it was the beauty known as birthmark. Truly chuffed with this fish, and what a days fishing”.

Swift recovery

Lee Swift wrote:  “My second fish of four in this active session after a slow start to the season and a few previous blanks. I wouldn’t have got this picture if it wasn’t for a helpful lad fishing at the time so many thanks to him.”

Scott’s back

Scott has been fishing elsewhere for a few years but he is back on Howells this season and got off to a flyer on his first session back with this 24lb-ish half linear Mirror as one half of a brace of April twenties:

Scott said “I had this 24 and a 27 on a Saturday over night session – happy days and the bait is working! Glad to be back…”.

By the way there are only 3 Howells night permits left so if you are thinking of renewing your ticket please move fast as these will be sold on a first come first serve basis.
