Howells closed on Sunday 13th March

Howells will be closed to members on Sunday 13th March so that a number of the small Commons up to 10lb in weight that have bred in this lake can be moved to Little Park.  There will also be some disruption at Little Park throughout the day when the fish are introduced into their new home.  This date coincides with the Carpin On show at Five Lakes so hopefully disruption to our members fishing time has been minimised.

Howells lake – removing the smaller carp hopefully means that the big ones will get even bigger.

Photo competetion winners announced

To encourage photo submission we’re running annual prizes of half-price membership for photos submitted in two categories of ‘carp’ & ‘non-carp’.  Judges decision is final and it’s not always about the biggest fish, it might be the ‘prettiest’ fish or it might just be a good photo.

The 2015 winner of the carp category is Andy Flower for his magnificent 23lb mirror from Howell’s

and in the non-carp category Shaun Birnie gets a special mention for his fine 16lb Totham Pit pike & Dan Hilton for a splendid 10lb slab from the canal but the winner is Dan Thornett for his perch also from the canal, maybe not the biggest specimen (that’s the perch not Dan) but it’s a great perch photo

Keep those pictures coming and we’ll be pleased to pick the winners again next year.

Little London receives a boost

At a recent committee meeting it was agreed that the Maldon lake that was probably fishing the slowest was Little London so to try and remedy the situation we would ensure that the next batch of fish we purchased would be stocked into this attractive fishery.  I can now confirm that 255lb of silver fish and 30 carp to low doubles have been stocked with more silver fish to follow soon.
