Beware of EA impersonators

During a recent burglary of Environment Agency premises, corporate branded clothing was stolen. The EA have good reason to believe that this could now be used to impersonate Environment Agency employees. Environment Agency officers always carry photographic identification with them, and they never offer any work or advice for cash. Likewise, EA officers never demand cash from anglers for licences or for fishing licence breaches (only Maldon AS approved day ticket bailiffs on the canal or Railway Pond have the authority to ask you for day ticket money).

If you are aware of any instances of people being approached and demanded to pay an on-the-spot-fine, or are suspicious that someone is impersonating Environment Agency staff, please call the EA immediately on 0800 80 70 60.
