Possible Oil Spill Contamination on the River Blackwater

We have today received news via the Ilford Angling Club that there is a suspected oil spill in or around the Witham area and the oil has apparently made its way into the local water course and travelled on into the River Blackwater somewhere above the Wickham Bishops area. The EA are aware, and are dealing with the situation. If anybody has any more info, or if any members have visited our Station Road or Wickham Hall stretches and seen signs of pollution or distressed fish, please could they contact our Fishery Management Officer or email the Webmaster. Our new river sections at Ashmans Farm, Braxted are upstream of Witham so are hopefully not affected.
