Waters Reopening – Monday 18th May @ 10am

Maldon Angling Society is pleased to confirm that its waters will Reopen our waters on Monday 18th May at 10am and “Night Fishing” is permitted.

** Please do not arrive before 10am as no queues will be allowed at our gates **

We will have a bailiff at each water at the gate entrances from 9am, if you arrive before 10am you will be asked to leave as we need to make it fair for everyone.

Some swims will be closed of to allow social distancing, if your favourite swim is one of these, we apologies in advance as we cannot deviate from the guidelines issued.

Please note -  The “Point” at Howells Lake will also be closed to everyone until further notice.

RESTRICTIONS - Last Updated – 13th May 2020

Please keep referring to the Website and our Social Media pages to keep up to date with any changes in restrictions as these may change daily as clarification is provided by the Government and Angling Trust.

Last Updated – 13th May 2020

For the time being the following restrictions will apply.

  • 2m Social distancing rules to be followed when moving around the venues
  • Following Angling Trust guidelines anglers cannot fish within 15 metres of each other even if this means swims must be left vacant. Strictly only one angler per swim unless accompanied by a cohabiting family member.
  • No match fishing.
  • Night Fishing. We will update the position around night fishing before we reopen on the 18th and hope to be able to communicate good news once the Angling Trust has been provided with further clarification from the Government.
  • Toilets are not available.
  • Angling will be at members own risk and Maldon Angling Society takes no responsibility for any adverse health outcomes.
  • Current members only allowed – no day or guest tickets will be available.
  • Members should carry antiseptic spray/wipes/gel and are advised to wear gloves when opening locks and gates.
  • Bailiffs will check membership cards without physical contact and will remove anyone not adhering to these and the Angling Trusts guidelines
  • We will keep these restrictions under review and amend them as necessary, including closing waters if required.
