Carp Match Moved

The carp match listed in the rulebook for 15th-16th August has been moved from Slough House Farm to Howells because of the extensive weed growth at Slough House.  Howells lake will therefore be closed to non competitors from 10am on Saturday 15th August to 1pm on Sunday 16th August.  Please contact Pete Newell for additional info or to book a peg for the match.  Apologies for any inconvenience caused. A workparty is planned for Slough House Farm to remove a lot of the weed but unfortunately this will not be completed in time for the match.  Details of the workparty will be posted next week.

Match Results update

Dave Auston’s match winning weight at Heybridge Basin included this 3lb Tench:heybridg-tench-0022

The result of this and our other recent matches can now be found on our  Match Results page.

Monster Eel

Totham Pit has already produced 30lb+ Carp, 9lb+ Tench and Crucian carp approaching 4lbs this season and has now thrown up a 7lb Eel!  This came as quite a shock for captor Edward Ives.   It measured 3ft 6in long and was in great condition with the hook only in the lip. Edward also landed a 15lb 9oz Common carp and two 5lb Bream during the overnight session.

Evening Workparty at Rook Hall

The next evening workparty will be held on Rook Hall at 6pm on Wednesday 15th July to rake out weed from the lake nearest the car park and hopefully remove the fallen tree from the lake at the far end.

Fishing Open Day on Sunday 12th July – Everybody Welcome

Whether you are an experienced angler but not a MAS member or just fancy coming along to see what fishing is all about join us on Sunday 12th July at one of our most popular venues. MAS members will be on hand to give advice on match, pleasure and carp fishing. Everyone is welcome whatever your age; juniors (accompanied by an adult), adults, pensioners, families especially welcome. Bring your gear and fish for free, if you haven’t got a rod a limited number will be available for you to try.

Anyone who picks up an application form on the day and joins within 14 days gets a generous 20% discount on any of our membership categories.

The venue is ‘Bog Grove’ (don’t worry it’s much nicer than the name suggests) which has a great head of carp to around 20lbs, crucian carp, tench and rudd. We’ll start at 1000 and finish at 1700, just turn up at a time that suits you.

Bill runs away with Little London match

Congratulations to Bill Claydon who left the other competitors trailing in his wake recently when he won a match at Little London Reservoir with a 44lb+ haul that included a 15lb carp and some big bream.  This, and all of our other match results from May, can now be found on our new Match Results page (new page now listed under Match Dates above).
